Paksey Bridge under construction over the river Padma

The 1786 meter-long Paksey Bridge, the second largest bridge, consisting of 15 spans (each 109.5 meter long) plus two shorter end spans (each 71.75 meter long) across the river Padma in western part of Bangladesh is of strategic importance to the road and bridge infrastructure improvement programe of Bangladesh. Communication with the South West of Bangladesh and Mongla Port facilities, through to the North West, India and Nepal and via Bangabandhu Multipurpose Jamuna Bridge to Dhaka depends on crossing the river Padma at Paksey.
